“Hold your breath
Make a wish
Count to threeCome with me
And you’ll be
In a world of pure imagination
Take a look and you’ll see
Into your imaginationWe’ll begin with a spin
Traveling in the world of my creation
What we’ll see will defy explanationThere is no life I know
To compare with pure imagination
Living there you’ll be free
If you truly wish to be”– Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Page of Swords (Earth of Air) + IV Wands (Venus in Aries) Shadowed: X Wands (Saturn in Sagittarius)
Numerically Page of Swords is 54 and IV Wands is 30, plus Shadow card: X Wands is 36 = 5+4+3+0+3+6 = 21 = 2+1 = 3
Meanings of today’s Focus number three: first celebration number, The Triad (overcoming the duality of number two, The Triad has a beginning, a middle, and an end), creativity, expression, sociability, physicality, the third dimension of the physical realm (3D), triangle, the Holy Trinity (mind, body, and spirit), and synthesis.
*NB: there are two number nines in today’s spread symbolising celestial and spiritual power (3×3), pure intelligence (Hebrew), Truth (since it reproduces itself when multiplied i.e. 2×9=18=1+8=9, 3×9=27=2+7=9), earthly perfection, and completion nearing new beginnings*
Two flyers today, both cards flew out of my deck early in the shuffling process, and could not be ignored. The Page of Swords (PoS) in combination with the IV Wands (4W) shows a level of excitability and/or anxiousness within areas of home, hearth, and family (can extend to wider extension of family, like communities or hometowns etc).
I generally see the Page of Swords as a bit of an upstart, a gossip and a trouble maker, or a suspicious and even ‘paranoid’ energy in general, but here today in the presence and influence of the celebratory and steadily optimistic 4W, I’m utilising PoS less negative associations and putting them to good use i.e. ‘switched on’, ‘awakened’ (with 4W 11.11) excitement, anticipation, and opinionated lively talk/gossip regarding all possibilities surrounding the 4W marriage/celebration/wedding/house/family (positively). Considering the two number nines in the reading today, and the celebratory focus number of three, the Page of Swords enthusiasm and elation becomes emphasised, which could translate ‘singing’ the Truth, or ‘singing’ praises, and defending (usually PoS is ‘defensive’ when neutral or negatively aspected) the happiness found within the IV Wands ‘Completion’ (4W is named ‘completion’ by Crowley in the Thoth deck).

The Pages (sometimes named Knaves or Princesses in various decks) of the Tarot harness the raw energy of the Aces of their respective suits, and as Pages (much like the ‘Fools’ of their suits) they are not yet experienced in ultlising and effectively handling those powers within the earthly 3D realm. Page of Swords has a firm grip on the most powerful Ace of Swords, and is seen defensively standing on guard holding the sword (RWS), and I’m unsure whether this Page is aware of the immense power that double edged sword potentially can weald, and that’s what makes him dangerous. When PoS is forced to act hastily, his immaturity and ignorance of the swords double edge, and easy corrupted power, causes more damage then clarity. When Page of Swords is aligned correctly (PoS + 4W + 10W = Earth+Air+Fire+Air+Earth+Fire these three cards at their most positive interpretations could create trinity of perfection, which is reinforced by our social and inclusive Focus Number three (3) here today), his clarity of thought, truth, and ideas are manifested with their purity intact.
Four of Wands traditionally known as the ‘marriage’ or ‘wedding’ card. Marriage, meaning partnership, has limitless combinations. This is the card of Spiritual Awakening, 11.11 showing clearly on this card (RWS) as the four wooden branches hold up a wreath of celebration. This card is the beginning of a marriage and connection of one’s soul with The Heavens. We become aware there is so much more, and of how much more we do not know.
When I see this card 4W, I absurdly imagine the twenty-two (22) Major Arcana Tarot cards jostling around, pushing and maneuvering with one another, this chaos happening behind that large white castle seen in the background of card 4W (RWS) (much like the Walt Disney animation ‘Alice in Wonderland’s Palace Guards, who just happened to be cartooned classic playing cards, each with humanised features, and individual personalities). The Major Arcana are all jostling into their Divinely guided positions, all preparing the spiritual and life-lesson laden journey, behind the 4W’s scene of celebration for the wedded and ‘Awakened’ couple, publicly uniting in the very first Tarot ‘stage card’ of IV Wands.
IV Wands being Aries in Venus (fiercely harmonising, or Fiery Passionate Love) it comes close to perfection elementally (reinforced by the two number nines today). I’ve personally named 4W ‘Gratitude’ and genuinely remember to be thankful when I see this card within any reading, as Divine timing (synchronicity’s) and Angelic guidance are guaranteed when 4W makes an appearance. **Clairalience – Air + Fire + Fire / Senses on Fire / Page of Swords being a student of AIR Smell / IV Wands 11.11 and combining of two families or houses / Spiritual awakening could refer to new psychic abilities unfolding**
*Clairsentience – As above using Fire as feeling, so 10W crossing the finishing line.*
Crowley named X of Wands (10W) ‘Oppression’, and it’s not difficult comprehending why, when we see the poor fellow in the 10W card struggling to carry all ten Wands, rather awkwardly, yet determinedly to cross the finish line with all ten Wands in tow and in tact, and in one single journey (pictured above RWS). This card is most often associated with heavy burdens, being overwhelmed, exhausted and tired of whatever is at hand. Being the shadow card, it’s theme permeates the entire spread, being the underlying, or subconscious, and many times, unspoken issue. I often refer to the shadow card as ‘the elephant in the room’ card. Generally no one wants to acknowledge it’s presence, yet it impacts every facet of the cards in the above spread.

Today 10W’s heavy load is best utilised, while in such excellent company, as portraying the intensity and depth of feeling associated with cards of PoS and 4W. The celebration found in the 4W, is well worth the extreme effort and determination found within the 10W card. Incidentally, it just occurred to me that IV Wands being shadowed by X Wands could indicate moving home, or marriage, wedding, or family event, together with moving home, however with our two number nines in this reading today, the spiritual and celestial implications take precedence, and will not be ignored.
